OnePlus 12R: Massive Battery, Flagship SoC, Early 2024 Launch

OnePlus’s flagship phones are always popular with customers thanks to their speed and capabilities. It’s no wonder that OnePlus’s budget phones also get a lot of attention. The OnePlus 12R is going to be no exception. The latest rumors have suggested that the company’s next smartphone in this series will be a big battery beast.

The OnePlus 12R is expected to launch early next year, likely before February. According to a new leak (via tipster Yogesh Brar on X), the phone will have a massive 5,500mAh battery. It’s a considerable upgrade over the current OnePlus 11R 5G, which has a 3,300mAh battery.

This massive battery is also reportedly going to support 100W wired fast charging. This welcome addition could make the phone a strong competitor in the budget smartphone space.

As per the latest rumors, the OnePlus 12R will offer up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This will significantly upgrade the current OnePlus 11R, which offers up to 128GB of onboard storage. The OnePlus 12R is also likely to run on Android 14 paired with the OxygenOS interface, as is the norm for OnePlus smartphones.

In the camera department, the OnePlus 12R is expected to feature a triple rear camera setup. This will include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 32-megapixel telephoto sensor. For selfies, there’s likely to be a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

OnLeaks corroborates these details and adds that the OnePlus 12R will be available in China before making its way to other markets. As for the specifications, it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which powers the OnePlus 11 5G. This should allow the phone to deliver a smooth user experience while multitasking and playing games.

Moreover, the OnePlus 12R will likely have a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This will offer a great viewing experience.

The OnePlus 12R will also offer a fast-charging USB Type-C port. As for the rest of the design, it’s likely similar to the OnePlus 11, with minimal bezels and a home button below the display. This will be flanked by two navigation buttons and a fingerprint scanner. Lastly, the OnePlus 12R will likely come with dual SIM slots and VoLTE support. The phone is reportedly also slated to be water resistant. This will be an excellent addition and help the device survive accidental drops.
