Amazon Prime Vs. Prime Lite

Amazon recently introduced a new Prime Lite, a more affordable and simplified version of their standard Prime subscription. The membership plan is available for an annual fee of Rs 999 and has almost the same benefits as the regular Prime subscription. The only significant difference is that Prime Lite users will not get an ad-free experience on the Prime Video OTT platform.

The new Prime Lite subscription plan will offer customers various benefits, including free two-day delivery on eligible purchases, early access to sales, and extra discounts. Moreover, the Prime Lite membership will also give users access to the Deal of the Day and Lightning deals on the Amazon India website. In addition, the e-commerce giant is offering members of the Prime Lite plan up to 5 percent cash back on select transactions through an Amazon Pay ICICI bank credit card.

As mentioned, the Prime Lite subscription plan is much cheaper than the standard Prime subscription. It costs just Rs 999 per year, considerably less than the existing annual plan, which is priced at Rs 1,499. Prime Lite, however, must include some of the benefits offered by the original subscription pack. For instance, it will only allow users to stream movies and TV shows on two devices at the same time and in HD quality.

Moreover, the Lite plan will also leave out access to Amazon Prime Music and Prime Gaming. The e-commerce giant has yet to decide if Prime Lite will include ads on its OTT platform, which is currently ad-free.

On the other hand, a regular Amazon Prime subscription plan offers members access to various exclusive shopping benefits and perks, including free one-day shipping on eligible purchases. The company also offers Prime members a six-month free screen replacement on selected smartphones. In addition, Prime members can enjoy no-cost EMI payment options on smartphones and tablets.

In terms of price, the new Amazon Prime Lite subscription is much lower than the current annual subscription plan. The monthly and quarterly plans are priced at Rs 299 and 599, respectively.

The new Amazon Prime Lite is a good option for those looking for an alternative to the regular membership plan the company has recently hiked. The company is trying to retain its existing subscribers and attract more customers in the country with better services at a much lower cost. Moreover, the new plan will not come with additional fees or shipping or handling charges. Hence, it will be a much better alternative for those who want to subscribe to Amazon Prime for a limited period.
