Official Confirmation: Oppo Reno 11 to Utilize MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC

The Oppo Reno 11 series is all set to go official in China on November 23 with at least two entries — the regular Oppo Reno 11 and the Pro variant equipped with a periscope telephoto camera. Both models are currently up for pre-reservations in the country, and as the launch date draws closer, the company is disclosing more details about them on its social media channel. They are claimed to boast flagship imaging algorithms and offer a picture quality comparable to the Find X series smartphones.

Oppo has also released a few teaser images that showcase the design of the upcoming smartphones. The smartphones are expected to sport a slim profile with a pill-shaped camera island on the rear. Rings flank the camera island, the top housing two sensors and the bottom ring with one sensor. The regular model is expected to be available in Obsidian Black, Moonlight Gemstone (white), and Fluorite Blue, while the Pro variant will be offered in Obsidian Black and Turquoise Blue.

Among the details that have surfaced about the upcoming Reno phones is that they will run on the latest MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC. This chipset is a significant upgrade over the older MediaTek MT6760A. It has four Cortex-X4 cores and no Cortex-A520 cores, which should make it very fast at single- and multi-core tasks. The processor is built on a 6nm process and has a TSMC LPDDR5X memory controller. It supports 8GB of RAM and offers UFS 3.1 storage for faster performance. It also has a Mali GC8 MC4 graphics chip supporting HD+ resolution on the 5.7-inch Reno 11 display.

The Oppo Reno 11 and the Pro variant will likely support 5G connectivity, courtesy of the new SoC. The Pro version is rumored to feature a curved OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,160Hz PWM dimming, and a center hole cutout. It is also tipped to have a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. It will likely be fueled by a 4,800mAh battery supporting 67W wired charging.

The regular Oppo Reno 11 is expected to have a similar display but a lower resolution. It is also tipped to have the same SoC and a 4800mAh battery capable of supporting 67W wired charging. The smartphone is also tipped to have a Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto camera that will offer 2x optical zoom.

A Weibo post spotted earlier today revealed that the Oppo Reno 11 with the model number PJH110 has scored 1 million points on AnTuTu. This is quite a feat for a device that will be launched next week, primarily as it is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC. The benchmark score demonstrates the processing power of the CPU and graphics capabilities of the Mali GC8 MC4. It will be interesting to see how well the flagship Oppo Reno 11 performs on the test.
