Elon Musk Skeptical of Mexico’s Alien Mummy Claims, Calls for More Evidence

Since a Mexican journalist presented two tiny mummified bodies with elongated heads and three fingers on each hand before the country’s Parliament, social media has been abuzz with discussion around these “aliens.” Jamie Maussan, the journalist and longtime UFO enthusiast, claimed these specimens are 1,000 years old and unrelated to any known Earthly species. However, experts have refused to believe his version. Now, the world’s richest man and new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, has broken his silence on the matter.

Maussan has been accused of using the bodies for publicity to gain a reputation as a UFO expert. He was also involved in a documentary that made a similar claim about an alien found in Peru in 2017. The presentation of these specimens at Mexico’s first Congress hearing on unidentified strange phenomena, or UAPs, has sparked interest and curiosity worldwide. But it has also sparked considerable scorn and criticism among scientists and skeptics such as US Navy pilot Ryan Graves, who spoke at the Congress event.

It needs to be made clear how the mummies came to Maussan’s possession, but he claims a man brought them to him from Peru. He claims he asked for permission from the Peruvian government to present them in Mexico. He still needs to explain how the Peruvian authorities agreed to this request.

As for the mummies, Maussan claims rigorous Carbon 14 tests conducted at the Autonomous National University of Mexico proved they are about a thousand years old. He also said X-rays revealed they had eggs inside them. He has named the two specimens Clara and Mauricio.

The mummies have been compared to the Nazca Lines, a series of enigmatic figures scraped into the desert floor near Perus coastal town of Nazca and visible only from a bird’s eye view. The results from the Carbon 14 tests have yet to be released. Still, Julieta Fierro, a researcher at Mexicos National Autonomous University Institute of Astronomy, has reviewed the test results for Reuters and says they do not support Maussan’s claims that these are not human specimens.

The fact that the mummies are not a part of an ongoing scientific study is another reason for experts to scoff at them. Fierro notes that if these were genuine specimens, they should have been sent to the international community for further analysis. Nevertheless, she believes it is essential to keep the conversation going and that scientists should continue looking into the possibility of extraterrestrial life on our planet.
